Quote for my daughter

If You Ever Find Yourself Stuck In The Middle Of The Sea,
I’ll Sail The World To Find You
If You Ever Find Yourself Lost In The Dark And You Can’t See,
I’ll Be The Light To Guide You

Find Out What We’re Made Of
When We Are Called To Help Our Friends In Need

You Can Count On Me Like 1 2 3
I’ll Be There
And I Know When I Need It I Can Count On You Like 4 3 2
And You’ll Be There
Cause That’s What Friends Are Supposed To Do, Oh Yeah

If You Toss And You Turn And You Just Can’t Fall Asleep
I’ll Sing A Song
Beside You
And If You Ever Forget How Much You Really Mean To Me
Everyday I Will
Remind You

Ohh
Find Out What We’re Made Of
When We Are Called To Help Our Friends In Need

You Can Count On Me Like 1 2 3
I’ll Be There
And I Know When I Need It I Can Count On You Like 4 3 2
You’ll Be There
Cause That’s What Friends Are Supposed To Do, Oh Yeah

You’ll Always Have My Shoulder When You Cry
I’ll Never Let Go
Never Say Goodbye

You Can Count On Me Like 1 2 3
I’ll Be There
And I Know When I Need It I Can Count On You Like 4 3 2
You’ll Be There
Cause That’s What Friends Are Supposed To Do, Oh Yeah

Wooooh, Wooooh
You Can Count On Me Cos’ I Can Count On You

I’m dreaming of a … yellow nursery

Nursery Inspiration: PaintI’m so far in lalaland today that it’s going to take a hurricane to pull me out of it. I had a whirlwind weekend; we celebrated Christmas with Family A (my side). The whole family flew and drove in for the weekend – one brother and family from their home in Cayman Islands (en route to their new home in Vancouver!!), one brother and family from North Florida and parents from home on southern Bahamas. It was fun and frantic. Some kind of a mix between the Family Stone, the Griswolds, and the Christmas Story family.

But when the families started to leave I realized that this meant the next chapter is looming. And that next chapter is Baby #2. It was really brought home to me this weekend twice in my shower! Once when I simply started thinking about how I will manage work and 2 babies, and the second time when I slipped and fell, all in slow motion realizing that I couldn’t fall on my spine (we have a step down shower and I was destined to hit the edge of the step) and I couldn’t fall on my tummy either. I ended up on my knee, bumping my hip as well and scaring the living daylights out of myself. I cried (sobbed), felt like an idiot, and had to unearth the dynamic doppler to check the baby wasn’t hurt.

I am so far from being ready for the baby it’s crazy. Her room has no light. Meaning there is no light bulb, no light fixture, nothing. No curtains (which is good when you have no light), no furniture, just boxes and boxes of stuff that needs to find a home. I’ve been collecting ideas on Pinterest, and now I feel like it’s time to start an inspiration board. They say you have to start with one thing. We have the walls painted so I guess that’s the starting point! They are the pale blue color, the majority of textiles will be yellow I think and the accents gray. I’ll keep you posted!

What we’re reading: Roar Like a Lion! by Tiphanie Beeke

Overall: 3 Crowns out of 5

Little Man had a bunch of books as Christmas presents. Aunty Tip gave him this one, which I think has some proceeds going to WWF, the global environment network. It’s a sound book – not that it make sound, but you make animal noises when you read it. Little Man was looking a little sleepy so I grabbed the moment and read it to him. He liked the yelling noises and even ripped a page out, which is the ultimate compliment from a wriggly one-year old.

I gave it a three because there’s not much to it. Basically, a mouse has a question for a lion, a parrot, a panda, a crocodile, and a turtle. They can’t hear him though because they’re making too much noise (don’t bother questioning how much noise a turtle makes), so he asks a bunch of mice and they answer(again, perhaps some turtles are louder than others, but louder than mice? hmmm…).

The ongoing search for a home

7 months ago, Mike and I went and got pre-approved for a house. We were so excited, we’d been talking about this day for years and I have pored over design magazines and books borrowed from our fabulous library. 7 months later, we have seen over 50 houses, made 5 offers and are about to make our sixth. When I say “seen” I mean packed our son into the car, driven to the house, rain or shine, pulled him out, toured the house (met our fair share of obnoxious owners and realtors along with some nice ones), put our now miserable child back in the car and driven to another one. You mean the world to me

Print from Etsy

Since we started looking for a house, I’ve been looking at decorating blogs again (Ohdeedoh.com is still a favorite) and yearning for Ikea visits and I saw a balloon with “You mean the world on it” on a blog. It sums up so perfectly how I feel about my little man.

He’s growing so fast, trying to crawl, trying to talk, pushing away from me and every day, even as his rapid growth bums me out, I long for more time with him and I am overwhelmed by the way he makes me feel. [Read more...]
